What do we do?
We give training

on Disability Equality and Self
Advocacy skills and how to empower people with learning difficulties
|
 |
We provide information and give advice

|
We have a Resource Library with
training packs, videos, tapes and books. We also keep lots of
leaflets about all sorts of things. |

|
We make videos
|
to train and educate people
and to tell them about self advocacy. We have made videos about
people’s lives; and How To Vote (to help members choose
people for management committee jobs). |
 |
We work in the office

at Little Plumstead Hospital; Adult Protection group; Direct
Payments; Valuing People and many others. |
 |
We organise & attend Conferences
|
We run our own conferences to
teach others, and we also attend other people’s conferences
to learn new things from them. |
 |
We organise & attend Meetings
 |
We have meetings for Members,
Supporters, Management Committees, etc. We run our meetings
and have support if we need it. |
We sit on Sub-Groups
|
These are small groups of people
who meet up once a month to work on things like:
Training & Development; Personnel issues; Fundraising; Facts
of Life Group; Planning, etc. |
We fund raise
|
by running social events; raffles;
sponsored
walks; tombolas; BBQ’s; craft stalls, and things like
that. |
 |
We campaign
|
We have campaigned about Day
Service charges, benefit cuts, closing residential homes for
the elderly, and welfare reform. |
 |
We have fun!
|
We work hard at People First
of Norfolk, but we also have a lot of fun. You can meet different
people and make new friends. We make sure we enjoy ourselves
– we organise social events and we like any excuse for
a party! |
